Even if you’ve heard Berlin is cool, it’s still cooler than you think. It’s hard to put your finger on just why. Maybe it’s the cutting edge art and film scene, or the way it effortlessly has one foot in the old world while it sets the pace for the new world. It’s the kind of place you can go to an all-night party, see an avant-guard arthouse film, check out an A.I exhibition then march for climate change all in 24 hours. Berlin is ready for you if you think you can keep up.
Life in Berlin as a Student and Young Professional

Living
There aren’t many places more fun for a young professional than Berlin. The cost of living versus the quality of life is right in the goldilocks zone.
When it comes to communication, you’ll be fine with English and a smattering of German (the more the better, of course). The city almost defines the concept of ‘easy to navigate’ with an average commute time of 23 minutes on the absurdly good public transport.
It’s Germany’s biggest city for media and technology and anyone in the art and design, marketing, or architecture industry will find this a Mecca.
The locals love their art and culture. They push the boundaries and aren’t scared to experiment. The list of cultural events, festivals and creative spaces is as long as your arm, and getting longer. You won’t be at a loss for something to do in Berlin.

Eating
When it comes to eating, the list of German specialities you can find in Berlin, Mustafas Gemüsedöner, Sauerbraten, Weisswurst, and the like, is almost uncountable. However, you’ll have no problem finding vegetarian or vegan. Berlin is a ‘world vegan city’ so you can be as kind to animals as you are to the environment.

Working
Typical German frankness is the norm in the office – just be clear and direct. An efficient and well-ordered workplace is important to most Germans. Think ordered lists, agendas for meetings several days before, and clear aims and objectives.
Berliners are snappy dressers at work, smart black attire being popular for both sexes. Shoes are a particular focus if you want to impress, lead with some fancy footwear. There is a clear cut-off between work and personal life. When it’s home time, they really mean it; no checking emails at the weekend!
