Internships Beyond Borders

London

The O2 Arena, Leicester Square, and not to mention the West End… London is a playground of world-famous venues, and you’ll explore them as you get to grips with the city’s busy hospitality sector. From world premieres to high-class restaurants and political conferences, London never sleeps, so go and sink your teeth into an exciting experience!

New York

One of the world’s most visited cities, New York is a hotbed of opportunity. Whether it’s the 3.5m attending the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, full of giant balloons, floats and marching bands, or 20,000 revelers enjoying shows at Madison Square Garden, you’ll be working with the best to pull off all kinds of events to perfection.

Seoul

With Korean culture’s worldwide popularity has come a huge spike in interest in South Korea itself. That means international visitors are flooding in, looking to immerse themselves in a totally different culture. Across unique festivals, events, galleries and museums, it’s your job to facilitate that, and learn a new way of doing things in the meantime.

Tokyo

An expansive metropolis that seems to go on forever, Tokyo has it all. The Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival is one of the biggest in all of Japan, with around two million people crowding along the iconic Main Street. Restaurants, theaters and hotels all await. Just make sure not to get Lost In Translation.

Lorenza Talks About Her Sustainability Internship

“The best part about my internship is my colleagues! I go for lunch everyday with my boss – they would show me Korean food and I was able to show them some Italian food. Three words that I would use to sum up my experience here would be: food – because I’ve tried almost everything; balance – the balance between work and personal life; and personal growth. I am usually very shy and introverted, but I’ve learnt so much about myself here and found out that I can do things on my own that usually I wouldn’t have by myself!”

What to Expect

Depending on what area of hospitality you intern in, your experience could look very different. However, what can be said for all hospitality internships is that you’ll have the customer experience in mind. It won’t take long and you’ll get up to speed with whatever tasks you’re given and that adaptability is what will put you in good stead with future employers.

You might be working in a large event production team, coordinating vendor deliveries to ensure that everything looks perfect for the event or you might be assisting the dining room manager choreograph the night’s table reservations.

Wherever you find yourself, you’ll come out with refined skills in problem solving, multi-tasking, and customer service. The skills you take away from your internship are some of the most sought-after in the industry and after your internship your CV will shine, setting you apart from the crowd.

Testimonials

Jac, UK

I would say that my Tokyo internship couldn’t have been better. There’s been this blend of structured support and freedom to explore that I’ve found really unique and I can’t imagine it anywhere else. The team on the ground have been so willing to go the extra mile that I’ve got no complaints at all.

Anna, UK

I was particularly impressed by my accommodation when I arrived in Seoul for my hospitality internship. Working with my restaurant chain has been an experience that’s changed me for the better. And I got to learn a bit of the language too, which was an unexpected bonus. Seoul, I’ll be back!

Nathaniel, Ireland

The best thing about my internship in events is that I was able to do so much – it wasn’t like I was just making coffee! It was a bit of a learning curve at first, but my team was super helpful and keen to help me succeed. I felt genuinely valued and I got to see my contributions having a material impact on the business, which was even better.
