The Program

When do programs take place?

We have start dates every month of the year. Check your preferred location for a list of up-to-date start dates.

Can I go to any location?

Yes absolutely. You will be asked for your preferences on program location, and we will work with you to ensure you are offered an internship in one of your preferred locations. You will need to be able to legally take part in an internship in the location you select. Whilst you will be responsible for arranging your visa (if you need one) our admissions team will be on hand to support and advise you.

Do you offer any certification at the end of the program?

Upon successful completion of the program you will receive a Beyond Academy Certificate of Excellence.

Are the start dates flexible?

We have start dates almost every month in all locations.

Can I earn academic credits?

You will need to speak with your school’s academic advisor to find out if academic credits can be provided for internships. If for any reason you are unable to gain academic credits we can provide credits via our partner university which you may then be able to transfer. Visit our academic credit page for more information. You can also discuss this in more detail with our admissions team if your application is successful.

What type of events are included in the program?

We have made sure there’s some time for fun, culture and friendships with an exciting calendar of events. All programs start with a welcome orientation and dinner, this helps make sure you get familiar with us, the program, your location and your new friends. All programs also include three super exciting events, BA family dinners every two weeks, and a dinner to celebrate your program completion. All of these are included. Please check our locations to learn exactly what events we run in each location.

On top of the included events above, we run events every week that are optional and and which may attract an additional cost to you. You can find more about these on the location pages.

Do I have to attend all of the events?

We highly encourage it. It’s a great chance for you to build your network, make new friends, experience the culture and take a well earned break.

Do you have local support in every location?

Yes. We have a community team in every location. You will be put in touch with them after you have confirmed your place on the program and they will support you until you finish your program. They will be your friend, guide and support throughout your program with us and are a key part of making sure you have an incredible experience.

What happens when I arrive?

We usually arrange for you to arrive at your location city on a Saturday. If you are flying in from overseas, you will be met at the airport by either our taxi partner or someone from our team and they’ll make sure you get to your accommodation.

Usually we leave you to get settled in on your first day before things get started on the next day. On Sunday we usually arrange for your Orientation, where you will meet our community team, learn more about the location, the program and what to expect over the next few months, and get a chance to meet your new friends. After orientation we go for a nice welcome dinner. After a weekend of getting settled in we will make sure you are briefed and ready for the workshops and internship awaiting you in the week ahead.

Internship

What industries are available?

We have many industries available – check the industry page here.

When will I find out what internship company I will work with?

This depends on when you apply and also the time of year. But we always try to secure the internship as early as possible.

How do you choose the internship company?

Our Role Success team put in a lot of effort in to understanding clearly what you are looking for and what your goals are, they will then decide on possible matches based on our company partners’ requirements and your overall suitability for the company and the role. Once they have a small number of matches they then proceed to speak with each company and confirm whether they would like to proceed with an interview.

What if I don’t like the internship and company offered to me?

We take great care in finding the best possible company for your internship. Usually we get it right, but if you really don’t like the role we present you with and have a good reason, we are happy to work with you to find a role you are happy with.

Are internships paid?

Compensation is decided at the discretion of your internship company. This can vary from completely unpaid, to stipends or in some cases even full pay. However we cannot guarantee any compensation on behalf of internship companies. Please note that for those taking the program overseas, it can often be the case that the visa restrictions in some countries (including certain visas in Japan and Korea) do not allow you to earn money while in the country.

Should I prepare for the company interview?

Yes absolutely, the better prepared you are the higher the chance you will be successful. But don’t worry our Role Success team will provide you with advice and support where needed.

Are the internships full time?

Yes, usual hours are from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Of course your hours may vary slightly from this due to local cultural difference and the needs of your internship company.

Can I take days off during internship?

Usually this is not a problem. While we wouldn’t suggest taking weeks off, a few days should be fine. The more notice you can give your internship company the better.

What kind of companies you work with and can you give examples?

TBC: We work with over 2000 companies across 18 industries. Our partners range from exciting start-ups to large corporations. We are not able to list the names of our partners on our website.

Will my internship result in a job offer?

While this is absolutely possible, we can’t guarantee it. Any offer of employment is at the discretion of your internship company. Put in the hard work, show your determination to learn and it may pay off.
